Stow got its own winner at the Darrow Road Marc's

Today is April 25, 2024.

  • Morning, all! We’re under a Freeze Warning as you read this, which took effect at midnight and lasts until 10 a.m. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 — that’s right, 29 — are expected. We’re eventually going to warm up to 57 degrees today with sunshine and a few clouds before dropping down to 36 tonight. But then things heat up in a hurry, with a high of 82 degrees expected for Monday. Maybe, just maybe, we’ve turned the corner toward summer.

  • Attention Stow residents: The Fishcreek Raccoon Run will take place between 7:45 and 10 a.m. Sunday, April 28. The City of Stow advises motorists that the race will cause traffic interruptions and delays that morning on Stow Road, Fishcreek Road and Young Road.

  • The City of Munroe Falls contracted with Pavement Management Group (PMG) for an in-depth review and report on current road conditions in the city. Stow

Lady Luck smiles on Stow woman — literally — during a routine trip to the grocery store

According to the Ohio Lottery, a Stow woman stopped into Marc’s at 3732 Darrow Rd. in Stow recently to pick up some rice — and she walked out over $100,000 richer.

Here’s what happened:

  • The woman, who has not been identified, noticed the Ohio Lottery self-serve kiosk at the front of the store and decided to purchase a $10 Lady Luck 50X scratch-off ticket.

  • According to an Ohio Lottery press release, “The winner said she almost passed out when she kept scratching off winning numbers.”

  • The woman ultimately won the game’s second-top prize of $150,000. After deductions for state and federal taxes, she will pocket $108,000.

  • The woman told the Ohio Lottery that she plans to share the winnings with her family.

Lady Luck 50X is a $10 scratch-off with a top prize of $500,000. As of April 24, there are three top prizes remaining in the game — so there’s still time to run out to a kiosk near you.
