🔦 AML3D is hiring

Stow's big new manufacturer is already filling out its staffing at the new headquarters

Today is June 26, 2025.

  • Summer certainly hit the ground running this year, didn’t it? It’s almost as if Mother Nature flipped a switch when the solstice occurred the night of June 20, because right after that we started a run of several days in the 90s that included heat warnings for much of that span. It won’t be quite as hot today, but it’s still going to be warm and humid: The high will be 88 degrees, with periods of clouds and sunshine and a thunderstorm. Tonight’s low will be a soupy 71.

  • MUNROE FALLS TOWN HALL MEETING: The City of Munroe Falls will hold a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, July 22 featuring a presentation on the city’s residential street-paving program, followed by a question-and-answer segment. The meeting will be divided into two sessions, one at 2:30 p.m. and the other at 5:30 p.m., and will take place at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library at 3512 Darrow Rd. in Stow.

  • THINGS THAT GO KA-BOOM IN THE NIGHT: We’re entering July 4th season, and that means, of course, fireworks — and not just the professional kind. So The Spotlight is asking readers in Stow, Munroe Falls and Silver Lake: On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being non-existent and 10 being strictly enforced, what would you say is the level of enforcement for the fireworks ordinance in your town? Send us your comments, and we will publish them in our Reader Spotlight section in upcoming newsletters.

Again: Water main breaks hit city for the second straight week

On the heels of the big water main break June 14 on Hudson Drive, Stow was hit with additional water main breaks in the areas of Franklin Road, King Road, Vira Road and Redwing Circle on June 25.

The City of Stow said on its website that discolored water, low pressure or air in the lines was likely due to these breaks — or, as one poster on the city’s Facebook page put it: “I flushed the toilet and was like huh?”

Residents in the affected areas were advised to run their water until clear. “We appreciate your patience as crews work to make repairs and restore service. Thank you for your understanding!” the city posted.

Avoiding another tragedy: Tips on river safety from the ODNR

With the June 21 tragedy in Cuyahoga Falls that claimed the lives of a 5-year-old boy and his father while they were tubing on the Cuyahoga River still dominating the news, it’s worth reviewing some river safety tips from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Starting with appearances: A river’s water doesn’t have to be rough to be life-threatening. Even in calm water conditions, the ODNR says rivers can be fraught with dangers like frigid water, strong currents, and submerged trees and other objects that can trap you on the surface of the water — or worse, under it.

Therefore, if you’re going out on the river to boat, float or kayak, the ODNR recommends that you:

  • Wear a life jacket

  • Avoid alcohol

  • Don’t go if the water level is high

  • Be prepared for cold water, even in summer

And, of course, don’t risk it if the water is rough and/or moving swiftly.
