Munroe Falls suffers three water main breaks in a month

Today is Nov. 13, 2025.
Good morning! Well, we got our first snow of the season earlier this week. And while it wasn’t much, it was just enough to make for some slippery commutes — and give us a chance to brush up on our winter driving skills for the main event that we know is coming sooner rather than later. But we won’t have to worry about that today: We’re forecast to have a high of 47 degrees under partly cloudy skies, with tonight’s low dropping to a wintry 29. We’re expected to peak at 58 degrees Saturday, with no snow in the forecast for at least the next week. But we all know what’s just over the horizon …

GOODBYE, MR. MAYOR: The Spotlight sends its condolences to the friends and family of former Silver Lake Mayor Dr. Warner D. Mendenhall Jr., who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4 at age 91. Dr. Mendenhall served as mayor of Silver Lake from 2000 to 2006. Go here to read his full obituary.

‘Tis the season for annual community holiday celebrations: The City of Stow’s Glow with Stow Holiday Lighting Event is scheduled to take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Stow City Center grounds, while the Silver Lake Garden Club’s WinterFest and Christmas Tree Lighting will span Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 7 at various locations in the village.
Admission is free to both events, which will feature festive activities, caroling, food, Christmas tree lightings and, of course, a visit from Santa!
