In Memoriam
Remembering the children who left us too soon: Angel of Hope Candle Lighting Ceremony will be held Dec. 10

The Annual Candle Lighting Ceremony at the Stow Christmas Box Angel of Hope Children’s Memorial will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 at Silver Springs Cemetery, located at 5080 Stow Rd. in Stow.
This moving ceremony is a special time to remember and honor our deceased children as the holidays approach. Thousands of bereaved parents around the world honor their children by lighting candles on this day, an event that has been designated as the Worldwide Candle Lighting in memory of all children who died too soon.
If you have purchased a memorial brick, you will receive an invitation to this emotional event. However, family, friends and the general public are welcome to attend. Those attending are invited to bring flowers to lay at the base of the Angel, and everyone is encouraged to dress warmly.
SPOTLIGHT ON THE CHAMBER

Think small first: Chamber program supports local businesses over the holidays — and beyond

By Julie McLain, Executive Director
The Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce is excited to be growing our GoLocal program with “Shop Close to Home for the Holidays.” This new benefit for Chamber members features our locally owned and operated small-business members who are retail, personal service or restaurant businesses here in Stow and Munroe Falls. Close to 75 members are participating in this program to encourage our community to shop local this holiday season and beyond!
We are making a concerted effort to help our small-business members stay top of mind during this busy time of year. Most small businesses depend on holiday season sales, and for many of our locals, the fourth quarter is the most profitable time of the year for their business. Shopping small is very important!
By making a commitment to shop local or support small businesses, money gets cycled back into the community. By shopping local, tax revenue made through sales taxes from local businesses support the local government, which is then reinvested back into the community. Local businesses tend to make more local purchases to run their businesses, local businesses create more jobs, small businesses play a significant role in supporting local community non-profits and causes, have better customer service, nurture innovation and growth, and support the American dream. Small businesses make up the flavor and character of communities, so when you are planning to shop, think small first.
To learn more about Shop Close to Home for the Holidays, check out the Chamber website at http://www.smfcc.com, where you will find our participating members, Hot Deals and our GoLocal SMF Cash Card portal. Here you can purchase GoLocal Community Cash, which can be used in any of the participating businesses listed on the map in the portal. GoLocal Community Cash Cards make great stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, employee gifts, and encourage and support our local community to shop small and can be used throughout the year. A win-win for all.
