Group photo! Plus, another water main break and vape shop inquiry

Today is Feb. 12, 2026.
Good morning! Not to jinx anything, but it looks like winter may have turned the corner. After weeks of frigid temperatures that included a bunch of sub-zero nights, things seem to be warming up — we hit 50 degrees earlier this week, and more of that is forecast next week. But not today: It’s going to be cloudy and chilly with flurries, with a high of 27 and a low of 18. But according to the forecast, it looks like winter’s last hurrah — at least for awhile.

Bad break: Water line rupture strikes Munroe Falls during stretch of frigid temperatures
No time is a good time for a water main break, but having one occur in the middle of a cold snap when temperatures are at or below zero can be particularly troublesome.
But that’s the dicey — and icy — scenario that unfolded late last week in Munroe Falls. Here’s what happened:
The City of Munroe Falls reported at 8:21 a.m. Feb. 5 that a water main break had occurred in the area of 14 Richard Dr. and Munroe Falls Avenue, resulting in a loss of water service and/or pressure for properties located on Richard Drive from Thomas Avenue to Munroe Falls Avenue and all of Thomas Avenue.
City crews responded immediately, but it became clear that additional services were going to be needed to complete the fix, with the city posting at 3:30 p.m. that a contractor had been called and would assist with repairs the following day.
The reinforcements arrived the next morning, and at 1:06 p.m. Feb. 6 the City of Munroe Falls reported that the water line repair had been completed.
No boil water advisory was issued. The city advised residents in the affected area to let their water run until clear if they noticed any discoloration.
