It's summer festival season in Stow, Munroe Falls and Silver Lake.

Today is June 5, 2025.
Good morning! That mugginess weâre starting to feel means summer is just about here, and itâs going to feel like it today. The high will be 78 so it wonât be quite as warm as those temps in the mid-80s we had the last couple of days, but itâs going to be humid and that means a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon that could bring localized damaging wind gusts, hail and flooding downpours. Tonightâs low will be 62.

FROM SUMMIT COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH ⌠: Mosquito and tick season has officially begun in Summit County, and Summit County Public Health is reminding residents to take every precaution to eliminate the risk of mosquito bites that can carry diseases such as West Nile virus and tick bites which can transmit Lyme and other diseases. Silver Lake
âA wealth of experienceâ: Ben Gregory named villageâs service director following retirement of Mark Lipan

The Village of Silver Lake has announced that longtime Assistant Service Director Ben Gregory has been promoted to service director, replacing Mark Lipan, who retired as service director effective May 30.
The village posted June 2 on Facebook that â[Gregory] brings a wealth of experience to his new role.â Gregory joined the Village of Silver Lake Service Department in 2002 and had served as assistant service director since 2012.
Lipan, meanwhile, retires after serving the village for nearly 27 years. Former Silver Lake Mayor Bernie Hovey gave Lipan a warm send-off with this June 2 Facebook post: âMark, you were exceptionally good at your job. Always willing to help wherever you could. Always treated the service department employees fairly, and with respect. Always kept me fully informed about not only your departmentâs needs, but also about the needs of the Village and its residents. I'm both proud of and thankful for the service you gave the Village. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement.â
