AMF-Bruns Group moving its North America headquarters to Stow isn't the only big news in the city

Today is May 15, 2025.
Morning, all! It’s going to be mostly cloudy and very warm today, with the high topping out at 82 degrees and the low a mild 67. The weekend should be nice as well with the exception of a possible thunderstorm Saturday morning, then Sunday things turn cooler with lows falling to the high 30s Monday night. Summer’s trying …
STOW SKIP PLAYGROUND RESTROOMS VANDALIZED: The Stow Parks & Recreation Department reported May 7 that the restrooms at the Stow SKiP Playground on Route 91 had recently been vandalized. At that time, only one restroom was open due to the damage, and the sink was not operational. Parks & rec posted May 7 on Facebook: “We’re working hard to make repairs as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we address this issue. If you see any suspicious activity, please report it to local authorities. Let’s work together to keep our parks safe and welcoming for everyone.”
SILVER LAKE SPEED SIGNS: If you live in Silver Lake or have driven through the village recently, you’ve probably noticed that the speed signs are out of hibernation and back in use. The Silver Lake Police Department says that signs will be placed in various locations around the village and will display the speeds of the vehicles passing the individual signs. The department says: 1. The signs are for data collection only; 2. The signs do not take pictures or capture any identifying information; 3. Periodically, the signs will be placed in different locations so that Silver Lake police can monitor vehicle speeds, which helps the department identify the problem areas. The village says that residents who feel excessive speed is an issue in their area can contact the Silver Lake Police Department to request that a sign be placed on their street.
3WHEEL THERAPY AT NEO ADVENTURE FEST: The 3Wheel Therapy group of Stow will be among a bevy of exhibitors at the inaugural Northeast Ohio Adventure Fest this weekend. 3Wheel Therapy is a non-profit organization that provides a free therapeutic riding experience for those unable to ride a traditional bicycle, using an adaptive tricycle. The NEO Adventure Fest, sponsored by the Open Trail Collective, is free and open to the public; it will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at the Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Amphitheater and Pavilion, located at 2085 Front St. in Cuyahoga Falls. Costumes and tails and howls, oh my! Mark your calendars for Paw Fest 2025 on Sept. 21
The calendar says it’s mid-May, but it’ll be mid-September before we know it. And around here, that means … Paw Fest!
Now in its 18th year, the Stow-Munroe Falls Lions Club’s annual Paw Fest event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 — the last day of summer — at Bow Wow Beach Dog Park in Stow’s Silver Springs Park. Lions Club members, with the support of the Stow Parks & Recreation Department, are already preparing for the big day, which will include:
Dogs in parade costumes
Dog tails measured for shortest & longest
The best howling dogs (until they’re hoarse!)
Speakers and animal demonstrations
Food trucks
The Lions Club’s annual Gift Raffle, which will end the day’s festivities
Entry fee for the event is either $1 for parking or a donation of used eyeglasses. Those interested in becoming a paid vendor or participating in the event as a free rescue group should contact [email protected].
