Stow Players community theater is recruiting new members at its season kickoff event

Stow Players will kick off its 2022-23 production year with an open house and membership drive from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, for anyone interested in joining the community theater, which is beginning its 69th year of continuous operation.

The open house will be held at the Heritage Barn, located at the back entrance to Silver Springs Park (5238 Young Rd.). Wine and cheese and other refreshments will be served.

Stow Players is looking for any new members interested in working as actors, techies, make-up artists, set builders, ticket takers or hospitality workers. Prior experience in play production is not required.

Current actors, directors, board members and others will be at the open house to discuss the onstage, offstage and backstage workings of one of the area’s oldest community theaters. Directors for the upcoming season will answer questions about their productions. Season tickets will be available, and you can also buy sponsorships and obtain club memberships at the open house.

A major topic of discussion will be the 2022-23 season, which will include two youth theater productions and three shows with adult casts. Titles include: “Dorothy in Wonderland,” “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” “Cinderella and the Story of Bigfoot,” “The Children’s House,” and “Matt’s First (real) Wedding.”
