🔦 Summer party time!

America 250 and Summerfest dates announced. Mark your calendar.

Today is May 21, 2026.

  • Good morning! Well, it seemed like we almost turned the corner to summer with temps approaching 90 for a few days, but now we’re back to that chilly night air again, including today when we’re forecast to have times of clouds and sun with a high of 67 and a low of 48. And Memorial Day on Monday is looking pretty good at the moment: Less humid with clouds followed by a brightening sky, with a high of 72 and low of 55. So those Memorial Day ceremonies and picnics should go off without a hitch.

  • MUNROE FALLS HISTORICAL MUSEUM GRAND REOPENING: The grand reopening of the newly renovated Munroe Falls Historical Museum will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 5; the museum is located at 83 Munroe Falls Ave. adjacent to City Hall. Attendees should park in the City Hall parking lot and walk over to the museum (just past the Veterans Memorial). At the same time, the Munroe Falls First Friday celebration will also be taking place at Brust Park featuring food trucks and entertainment, so there’s plenty of time to hit both events!

  • SMF LIBRARY PUZZLE SALE: The Friends of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library Puzzle Sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13 in the lobby of the library at 3512 Darrow Rd. All puzzles are gently used and sold at bargain prices. All proceeds from the sale go to support special library programs. The event is open to the public.

  • TRAFFIC ALERT: This road construction project isn’t in Stow, Munroe Falls or Silver Lake, but it’s close enough to affect our commute: On May 19, work began on milling and resurfacing East Barlow Road in Hudson from the Norfolk Southern train tracks to Stow Road. The project includes a lane reduction between The Sagamore Companies and Little Tikes, according to the City of Hudson. Work will take place during daytime hours only, and the project is expected to be finished by Friday, June 5, weather permitting. Two-way traffic on East Barlow Road will be maintained throughout the project, but motorists should anticipate minor delays.

  • CITY OF MUNROE FALLS JOB OPENING: The City of Munroe Falls is currently hiring for the position of full-time Finance Assistant. Applications must be received no later than 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 27. Go to this page for more information.

America 250: Fourth of July Parade will celebrate country and community — with a different kind of grand marshal

The City of Stow’s annual Fourth of July Parade is scheduled to step off at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4 along Kent Road, with perhaps the most unique honoree in the parade’s history serving as grand marshal: The AMP — Stow’s future outdoor amphitheater. The AMP is currently under development at 1680 Norton Rd.

“The AMP represents connection, celebration, creativity, and community spirit — values that perfectly align with what the Fourth of July Parade means to Stow,” Mayor John Pribonic said in a statement. “As we celebrate our nation’s history and look ahead to the future, The AMP symbolizes the next chapter of gathering together as a community.”

The parade will start at the Stow Community Center/Target Plaza area and travel west down Kent Road, ending at Holy Family Church.

This year’s parade theme is “Celebrate America, Celebrate Community,” which the city says “honors the people, traditions, organizations, and shared experiences that continue to shape Stow as our nation approaches America’s 250th anniversary. The annual parade remains one of Stow’s largest and most cherished traditions, drawing thousands of spectators and featuring community organizations, decorated floats, marching groups, businesses, performers, and patriotic displays. Parade organizers invite residents and participants to creatively embrace this year’s theme by showcasing what makes Stow and America strong: community.”

Parade entry registration is open through Friday, June 5, or until full. Additional parade information, procedures and event updates can be found at Stow Fourth of July Parade Information.

The summer hits just keep on coming: Guise Park will host Munroe Falls Summerfest on June 21

In between Stow’s Joshua Stow Festival on June 20 and the Fourth of July Parade, make sure you hit the Munroe Falls Park Board’s Summerfest extravaganza, which will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 21 at Guise Park at 43 Munroe Falls Ave. (next to City Hall).

The event is a celebration of the summer solstice and Father’s Day, and will feature live local music by:

  • It’s About Time at 2 p.m.

  • Riverfront Community Band at 3 p.m.

  • Just Plain Folk at 4 p.m.

  • Be sure to bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the tunes!

The first 300 attendees will receive free Dilly Bars courtesy of the Portage Trail and Stow Dairy Queen. Also, Metropolis Popcorn will be for sale, and water from the park board will be available for purchase as well.
